Bilgorod-Dnistrovska fortress is an architectural historical monument of national importance of XIII-XV centuries, one of the best preserved fortresses of Ukraine. The fortress was built on the site of the ancient Tyras city. Planted in the XIII century by the Golden Horde Khan Berke, a fortress is surrounded by a moat to 13m depth and width up to 11 meters. On the fourth side walls of the fortress are washed by the waters of the Dniester estuary. The fortress consisted of 4 households of different functions, each of which individually could independently reflect enemy attacks.
