Presentation of Knyazi Olelekovichi-Slutsky's book at the National Museum of History of Ukraine


On Wednesday, December 6, at 5:00 pm in the National Museum of Ukrainian History, a new book of the Baltic-Druk publishing house will be presented. The book dedicated to the latest Kyiv royal knyz`s Olelekovich`s and the fate of their descendants. It was for the sake of a deeper knowledge of our common past that the Kyiv publishing house Baltika-Druk opened a book series Elite. The series emerged within the framework of a major international project involving representatives from four countries: Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland and Belarus. Among its authors - recognized scholars, true connoisseurs of the past: d.i.n., prof. Alfredas Bumbleauskas (Lithuania), Doc. Sci., Assoc. prof. Genute Kirkene (Lithuania), D.Sc., Prof. Raymond Ragauskiene (Lithuania), D.Sc., Prof. Vasyl Ulyanovsky (Ukraine), doctor of sciences, prof. Natalya Yakovenko (Ukraine), Ph.D. Mikhail Sagaidak (Ukraine), Dr.sc.ing. Oleg Odnorozhenko (Ukraine), Dr. Sci. Boris Cherkasy (Ukraine), Candidate of Sciences, Assoc. Igor Teslenko (Ukraine), Ph.D. Yaroslav Zatilyuk (Ukraine), doctor hab. Ilona Chamanska (Poland), Ph.D. Oleg Dzyarnovich (Belarus), Dr.sc.ing. Anastasia Skeplyan (Belarus) and others.

Princes Olelekovichi-Slutsky - the fourth book from the series Elite, which is widely used in the design of volumes of illustrative material. Series books decorate the image of palaces, castles, temples and monasteries, portraits of prominent historical figures, household items, unique handwritten documents and ancient books from archives, libraries, museum repositories and private collections of many European countries. In previous years, volumes devoted to the princes Radziwil (2012), Ostrozky (2014) and Vyshnevetsky (2016) have already been released.

The history of the Olekkovich-Slutsk family, dating back to the middle of the XIV century, lasted almost 300 years. Representatives of the glorious family were the creators of the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the most prominent Gediminichami in the territory of Ukraine. It was in Kiev that the history of these brilliant aristocrats began, here, in the Lithuanian castle, they ruled, the best years of their life were here, here, in the Pechersk Monastery, the hereditary masters of the land of Kyiv were buried.
