Danylo Shcherbakivsky is a rescuer of the national cultural heritage

December 17 to the 140th anniversary of the birth of an outstanding ethnographer, archaeologist, museum figure Danylo Shcherbakivsky in the Museum of Historical Treasures of Ukraine, an exclusive author's excursion on extraordinary life and the contribution of the researcher to the preservation of the national cultural heritage will take place. Danylo Shcherbakivsky stood at the origins of the main historical museum of the country - the National Museum of Ukrainian History, which includes the Museum of Historical Treasures. During his life he collected, researched and attributed about 30 thousand exhibits. But the great scholarly work of Shcherbakovsky could have been much greater if it were not tragic premature death caused by the pressure of communist rule.


An excursion will be conducted by the scientific employee of the museum, candidate of historical sciences Olga Frasinyuk. Visitors will also be able to get acquainted with the works of the Ukrainian masters-goldsmiths of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, which survived in museum walls precisely because of the persistent and selfless work of the scientist.

Beginning on Sunday, December 17, at 14:00 at: Museum of Historical Treasures of Ukraine, st. Lavrskaya, 9, building 12 (the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra). Entrance to the Lavra through the main gate.
